Our Parent Handbook is full of good and useful information

NOURISHMENT:
I will provide nutritious meals and snacks. The daily menu will follow the guidelines recommended by the USDA Child & Adult Care Food Program. Meals will be served at the following times:

BREAKFAST                       8:00-8:45AM

LUNCH                              11:00-12:00AM

AFTERNOON SNACK         3:00-3:30PM

Children must arrive at least 15 minutes before the meal is scheduled to end to be able to partake in that meal.  If you are arriving later or between meals you should consider feeding your child at home. Please do not send gum, candy, or any other food item with your child unless prior agreement has been made.  If baby bottles or cups are being used, parents are responsible for supplying them.

REST TIME
All children in my care are required to take a nap or rest quietly each day. Naptime is normally scheduled after lunch from
1:00pm to 3:30pm.  Before naptime we have to calm down and get ready to nap, and listen to a story.  After we get up we have to clean up and get ready for snack.  Nap time may last shorter or longer, we adjust our snack time to the children’s nap schedule.  If your child has difficulty napping, discuss with him/her the importance of sleep health.  We realize no one can make a child sleep, but your child cannot disrupt or disturb other children who are trying to nap.  You may send a quiet book with your child to read during the rest time.

DISCIPLINE: If you constantly reinforce positive behavior, I believe you will have very few disciplinary problems. Children like to be acknowledged and accepted - they really prefer positive attention to negative attention. Therefore, I practice positive reinforcement at every opportunity. I will redirect negative behavior, and as A LAST RESORT, I will use time out. However, I do not believe punishment is effective when dealing with small children.  Corporal punishment is NEVER USED in my daycare home.

EMERGENCY EVACUATIONS
In the event of an earthquake or any other emergency requiring occupants of my family daycare home to evacuate we will meet in front of the house. If we should have to leave the property we will be at LACES located on 18
th street. (the high school up the street).

DAMAGES
If your child causes any damage to my home or its contents, you will be held liable for at least 50% of the replacement cost. If your child intentionally damages my property through destructive behavior or roughness, you will be liable for 100% of the replacement costs.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
My family daycare home will be closed on all Federal Holidays (i.e. if the bank is closed, so am I). Please note that your regular weekly tuition is still required.  Holiday Schedule will be given out each year.

PROVIDER’S VACATION & SICK/PERSONAL DAYS
I reserve the right to have two weeks of paid vacation per calendar year and 5 paid sick/personal days and 5 paid professional days (for training) per calendar year.
Although as much advance notice as possible will be given to all parents concerning my vacation plans, you will receive a minimum two-week notice. It is the parent's responsibility to obtain substitute care during these times, and to pay for their services.  Sometimes my mother who is a licensed childcare provider can provide backup care.  Total of 20 days personal/ vacation days per year, these days are not to be confused with our holiday schedule.  I will usually take one week in the summer and one week in the winter off for my vacation.

DOCTOR’S VISITS:  No child will be admitted after visiting a doctor without a doctors release form indicating when child may return to school.

MEDICATIONS:  Primary Colors Edu-Care will no longer dispense medication, if your child is ill and needs medication you must administer it before arriving at here.  Please inform the teacher if your child is on medication so we may monitor your child’s condition.

INJURIES
Every attempt will be made to ensure that your child will be in a safe environment, but no matter how much we monitor conditions, accidents do occur. In the event of a serious accident, you will be contacted for instructions. If you or your emergency contact person is unable to be reached, emergency actions and/or whatever means is necessary will be taken in order to provide the best care for the health of your child. All incidents and accidents will be documented on an accident report for your signature.
YOU OR YOUR FAMILY INSURANCE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF MEDICAL HELP OR TREATMENT DUE TO ACCIDENTS OR ILLNESS WHILE IN CHILDCARE IN MY FAMILY HOME.

In case of a major emergency, I will attend to your child first, call 911, and then notify you as soon as possible. If a parent is not available, other family or friends on your enrollment form will be notified.

Your child will be taken to the hospital, which you have designated on the enrollment form, if that becomes necessary. IT IS INCUMBENT UPON YOU TO CHECK WITH THE HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM TO FIND OUT WHAT KIND OF FORMS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ON FILE FOR TREATMENT IN CASE OF PARENTAL ABSENCE.
